August, 8, 08 was a big day for us. www.iGet2Work.com
was officially launched! Go check it out. it's the only place to go for jobsearch, work news, breaking news, free stuff and humor.
On the same day, FOSTER YOUR DREAM officially finalized it's application to become a bonafide, 501c3. It's a new, public benefit corporation called "FOSTER YOUR DREAM!"
It will provide kids who are in the foster system extras like music
lessons, trips, prom dresses, sneakers, tricycles, school support...anything
we and they can dream up! Kids in the system, typically only get the bare
necessities....we take for granted all the 'extras' we got as kids from our
parents or from extended family.
I'm assembling the Board of Directors now and each one brings a love and
desire of their own to work on for these kids. I am starting with a small
area and planning to eventually extend nationwide. We're sort of a
'make-a-wish' foundation for kids in the dcfs (department of children and
family services) system. Unfortunately Hollygrove no longer has kids living
in their facility. They do out-patient services and wrap-a-round services
for 'system' kids, so I have not been volunteering with them for over a
year. So hold on to your donations until we are sanctioned by the State of
California as a bonafide 501C3 non-profit organization.

My short plea for this is: "there are 535,000 reasons to get involved."
That's how many kids are in the system today. It is interesting to note
that Los Angeles and New York hosts 73% of ALL children in the foster system in the entire United States. That means 27% live in all the other cities and all of rural America. Staggering.
We can make a difference, one dream at a time!
